Dunnes Stores is Ireland’s leading retailer positioned at the cutting edge of food and fashion retailing. We are Irish owned and operate over 130 stores across Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Spain, as well as a growing online store.  We are expanding our service and product offering for our customers all the time.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, we are looking for a Financial Accountant to join the Dunnes Stores Group. The successful candidate will work closely with the business, the broader finance team and other key stakeholders.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • General ledger reviews, journal entry and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of monthly financials reports including variance analysis, ensuring timely reporting to the Board
  • Assisting with tax returns
  • Training and mentoring trainee accountant
  • Involvement in year end Audit / liaison with auditors
  • Ensuring that all day-to-day matters, tasks and reconciliations are completed in a timely manner
  • Creating and maintaining effective working relationships with all key stakeholders
  • Contributing to ongoing improvements in group-wide controls and processes, with a focus on enhancing the quality and timeliness of monthly and annual reporting
  • Involvement in digitalisation projects driven by legislative changes & the need to create efficiencies
  • Assisting with and/or relevant participation in projects impacting the retail business
  • Other ad hoc projects as and when required

 

You are ideal if you have:-

  • Professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CPA, etc.) - Newly qualified
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships within Group Finance and across the organisation
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet strict deadlines
  • Previous experience using Oracle ERP or similar would be an advantage
