fashion retailing. We have over 136 stores throughout Ireland, Northern Ireland and Spain, and are developing our service and product offer all the time.


We are looking for an experienced Food Technologist to join our food service division to drive the technical process, quality and consistency of our brands. The successful individual will have a proven track record working with food, in the food manufacturing or retail sector. Additionally experience with online specification management based systems preferably in the food retail sector is desired.

Job Summary

  • Work with the Food Technical, Product Development, Chefs, Buying and Store teams to deliver
    consistently safe, legally compliant and excellent quality products
  • Ensure all products are compliant with all applicable legislation and Dunnes Stores
    requirements. This includes completion, monitoring and updating of all product specifications
    through DSBC online specification programme and management of all raw material supplier
    specifications
  • Work with Food Technical, Product Development, Chefs and Buying teams to develop a supply
    base that can deliver to Dunnes Stores Food Manufacturing Standards required
  • Take ownership of specific technical and/or new product development projects – managing the critical path from creation of product to retail / online product launch

Key Responsibilities

Legal Compliance 

  • Manage and implement policy on technical standards in line with regulatory and company requirements
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge on matters pertaining to all food legislation
    Quality management & NPD
  • Implement Dunnes Stores private label policies and procedures
  • Ensure that private label product specifications are complete and accurate for all brands within
    Hospitality category
  • Manage full compliance and accuracy, and sign-off technical and legal elements of packaging &
    in store signage / online listings
  • Manage the critical path for all NPD projects including completion and maintenance of recipe
    development i.e. raw material data, allergen & micro & nutritional analysis
  • Support the food product withdrawal / recall procedure within Hospitality category
    Supplier management
  • Conduct supplier visits to ensure that they comply with Dunnes Stores requirements
  • Understand legislation relevant to the supply base to ensure compliance
  • Work with the development and commercial team to develop a supply base that can deliver private label products to the required standards
  • Co-ordinate the supplier specification check processes

Key Relationships

  •  Food Technical Manager, Product Development, Chefs, Marketing, Buying, Suppliers
    Qualifications
  • 3rd level degree in food science, food technology, or similar
  • Experience working as a Food Technologist in manufacturing for a minimum of three years
  • Experience of Retail and Foodservice online specification systems
  • Basic understanding of current legislative requirements, specifically food labelling
